Maelyn was asked to give a talk in Primary on How Jesus Christ Taught Us to Serve Others. I had her help me write her talk. We practiced it 3-4 times at home and she said she was ready to give it. I didn't realize that they were practicing for the Primary Program and she would be giving it from the podium. She got really nervous at first standing there with everyone in the congregation. She wouldn't say the first couple lines and got shy burying her head into my neck. After a few seconds she was talking into the microphone. All and all she did a very good job for her first time. Truth be known I was terrified to give a talk in church and didn't do it until I was in college. The talk was as follows;
Hi my name is Maelyn. My talk today is on how Jesus Christ taught us to serve others.
I can try to be like Jesus by serving others
Serving others means I do something for someone else (her definition)
Things I try to do are: help my mom clean the house, help my mom and dad when they are sick by getting them a blanket and a drink of water, playing with my brother, color my grandma a picture, help my friends when they are sad, make a present for my friend or family.
Doing things for other people makes me happy
