Jack and Lila Evertsen Family Reunion was at Gary and Darlene's cabin in Lava Hot Springs. We bought a new tent just for the occasion. It was the kids first experience camping and we had a great time. Maelyn loved that there were so many dogs. Between the three dogs and Ben we didn't have to entertain her once. We were all sitting by the camp fire when Annie told me that Ben and Maelyn went into the cabin to look for me. When I walked in they were sitting at the table with face cards in hand. Maelyn says "I have a 7" while throwing on the table; Ben says"I have a Queen" and throws it down. Then Maelyn picks up a Diet Mt. Dew and throws it back like she has done this before! So funny. At least she didn't grab the beer right next to it. Daison couldn't get enough of the 4-wheelers. He wanted to ride them, sit on them, or just be next to them. He was actually the center of attention the whole weekend. Everyone commented on how cute and sweet he is. Saturday we went floating down the river and made it with no injuries. Sunday we took the kids fishing with their new poles. There were no fish to be caught and we ended up throwing rocks in the pond which is how these things always end. On the way back from the pond Maelyn was hanging out the window. A branch caught the side mirror and whipped her forehead. I heard it happen and when I looked back she was holding her forehead looking a little scared. "what was that mom!" She looked like she had been shot, yet no mark or blood on her forehead. I explained it was a branch. Her reaction was hilarious. Guess you have to have been there. Dais and I went for our first mountain bike ride on our bikes just before heading home and it kicked my butt. What a great weekend with family. What a perfect place for a reunion.
